The Flint Street Nativity Play 27/11/15

Today we carried on with all the songs like last lesson but had some backing tracks to try and sing them in the time of the songs but with different words that where in the lyrics. I think this went well but now we need to start setting the rest of them so we know where we are going to go but most of them we are off stage singing in other people songs.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 26/11/15

Today we did the songs we did the "Massive Newt" song which went well we told everyone that was different songs on how we where going to do it and everyone got where we go because we know the bit after which was the end of the song when we go into slow motion I think we need to make sure we remember the words for the song.

All of the people who had single songs did them in their groups so they knew what they where going to do for their songs.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 24/11/15

Today we went though the whole of Act 2 when we did the whole act we tried to do act 1 as fast we could to see how it would go but with keep the energy going and keeping in our characters this helped us think of are lines more so we could get it done quick and know when it came in what order.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 20/11/15

Today we went though the whole of Act 1 we looked are movement to make sure it was clear that we were playing 7 year olds and that we had lots of energy with the whole play. I have to make sure with my role I make it clear that I am a child and that it is different from being the father of the child.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 19/11/15

Today we switched the roles for the adults for our characters we did this so we could see how everyone else play are character to see if we get any ideas how we want to do it and if we want to change it. These are the roles we had for this lesson:

Mary's Mum - Katya
Gabriel's Mum - Cel
Wise Gold's Mum - Rob
Shepherd's Mum - Lorna
Angel's Mum - Hope
Innkeeper's Dad - Ollie K
Herod's Dad - Ollie M (ME)
Star's Dad - James
Wise Frankincense's Dad - Charlie
Ass Dad - Lewis
Narrator's Dad - Ashley

I fell that Ashley made me think more about how I am going to play the role of Narrator's Dad even though he does not say a lot it made me think of how I am going to say it because it is an important part in the play where we find out Narrator's Dad could not come to see the show.

Playing Herod's Dad was much different from Narrator's Dad but he is mostly on the phone so I tried to play it in a funny way when I answered the phone to his friends and explaining what he does with his job I just made sure I was clear and adult like.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 17/11/15

Today's lesson we created are painting for the play we did this because in the play it says what different people drew in the photos. This is a photo of some of the people in our class that created paintings.

I painted the nativity but added some things that I thought a seven year old would add like a snowman and not paint it amazing because I am playing a child so I wanted to make it silly but fun too.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 13/11/15

Today we did the adult scene but I am not in this part so I was watching and checking how my character would talk to Jenny's mum when I ask her to talk to Tim for me. We did go though my part to make sure that I say it right so the audience understand that I was Tim's dad and that I could not come and watch it so I watched it from the window I need to make sure I remember what I am saying.

Today we looked over our character profiles to make sure we could include everything we needed too we look at are profile for the parent of are children. We all showed are profiles and got feedback of what we could improve on and what else we could include to make it better. They said I need to make sure I include thing like family and where does he live and I need to make sure I pick out some more lines from the script. For the rest of the lesson we did the adult scene.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 06/11/15

Today we ran act 2 until we got to the adult section and then stopped. Running the child went well I just need to remember all of my lines and make sure all of the movement goes with what I am saying. Being the narrator I explain a lot what happens so I need to make sure I know what I am saying and in the right order. Later on we went though the movement piece where we run away from the stick insect we do all of this in slow motion and we run away as quick and we can. For the end of the lesson we created our character profile for the parents of the children we are playing.

This is my character profile for Tim's dad.

Character Profile:

NAME: Ollie
AGE: 42
LIKES: Seeing Tim
DISLIKES: Not seeing Tim and arguing with his wife
FAMILY: His wife found someone new and the new boyfriend went to see the nativity with her
WHERE DOES HE LIVE: He lives with his mum at the moment because he does not have anywhere else to go or stay

  • Pride "That I was really proud of him"
