Today we looked at the marking criteria for the rehearsal unit. We looked at what we needed to do to get a pass, merit and distinction. We looked what we would need to include in are blog to get the best mark we can looking at my blog I know that I need to write as much as I can and explain what I did it drama and why we did it and make sure I give myself targets to improve on.
Later on in the lesson we did the adult section but I am not in this so I was looking to see how they did it they did an exercise to test everyones movement they did the whole bit without saying the lines to see how it worked with just movement so people think about how there character will move and act with other characters.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 22/10/15
Todays lessons we went though the adult section and did the clapping game but I am not in this scene so I was watching to see how it is done and what I think my character would say if I was there. I went though my scene where I talk to Jenny's mum and thought of different ways I would say my lines to sound sympathetic and emotive so they know that I care for my son and feel bad that I could not go in there and watch it. I want this moment to be a awwww moment from the audience so they feel for me and know that I am having problems with my wife.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 20/10/15
In todays lesson we went though the section for the adults. I play narrators dad so I don't have a lot of lines because in the play my wife and I are not together anymore and she has come to see the play with some new man so he does not come in to watch it he watches the whole thing from the window then at the end of the scene after the parents had seen it he goes to talk to Jenny's mum to tell his son Tim that he was proud of him and that he did watch the show. In this we understand that he does not live at home anymore because Tim tells us about it. I need to make sure when I come on for the parents bit I make it clear that I was there and I was Tim's dad.

Today we run though act 2 till the kids then we went though the part where Godzilla comes over the overhead projector and we run away but in slow motion. I think running though the act 2 did help because I am narrator I have to remember my lines so I need to make sure I learn them all.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 13/10/15
Today we where put into groups to do a devising activity. In our group we came up with a scene that we where drawing our pictures for the nativity that the parents see when they are in the classroom. We where in this group because we thought that are characters talk a lot in the play and I ask if Jenny can help me with my lines so I must feel fine around talking with her. I think we need to improve on trying to do more with the scene and come up with different ideas that we can show are characters of more I think overall this went well and a fun task to do so we can find out more about are characters.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 09/10/15
Todays lesson we went though the rest of act 1, someone had the idea that when a group started speaking then they would move to the middle which would draw attention to them. We weren't sure if this idea would work so we spent a lesson trying it out. We found that it was very hard to do as it meant props would have had to be moved and people forgot to move there, so this caused a few problems and made it look messy and crowded. We thought it would be best to come up with a new idea, this is when Ashley had the idea of 3 spotlights at the front which lit up different areas this not only drew attention to them but also meant that someone could be preparing the next part in a different area of the stage without being too obvious. After trying this we decided that is worked much better as it split up the stage making it all much neater and therefore this is most likely the idea we are going to use. I decided to make a few simple props such as cardboard sheets which are for "me words" in the scene where I ask Jenny Bennet to help me learn them. In future I need to pay closer attention to the stage directions because as I have seen from reading through the script, it has very specific stage directions which the writer intended in order to create the comedy aspect of the show, so by knowing the stage directions it will mean that I can better perform my role especially in certain parts when I have to "close my eyes" or "have trouble reading" because this will give me a much better idea of how to play this character, I also need to learn my lines so that I can focus on how I say it rather than remembering the line itself, I aim to know my lines up to the end of act 1 scene 5 by next week.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 08/10/15
Todays lesson we went though the whole of Act 1 we decided to have three sections so when people talk they will be in one of them so that a spotlight will go on each of them when they are talking at that time. I need to make sure when I talk I go into the light and make sure I am in the right places. I think this looked a lot better because then we focus more on the people talking and then the audience will know who is saying it at that time.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 06/10/15
Todays lesson we were looking at our character status we had to decide where we thought are character would be from most important to least important. I play Narrator so I thought that I would be down of the line a bit. Most of the first act he is learning his lines but he does talk to everyone so I did not think I would be down at the bottom of the line because I am confident. After this we had to come up with two words that we thought described are character bested but as playing are character like the first exercise. The last task was we had to go around and come up with words that we thought described someone else character best I think this tasked helped me because it made me think more of what my character is like and how I am going to portray them. For the last part of the lesson we finished off going though Act 1.

Research For Flint Street Nativity Of Children Behaviour 02/10/15
In Flint Street we all play 7 year old children so to help to study for my role to make sure that I would play the right character I looked into how 7 year olds act. As I have three cousins and two who are both 7 years old I looked at how they would act when being asked to do something or when they where talking to someone about what they got and what they loved to do. Also things like when adults talk to them and use funny words which sometimes I don't know are they would not understand but I think that they are both really smart children and they know what they are doing if they are getting up to misbehaving they understand that it is bad and if they want something they know how to try and get it and if they are rude and you tell them off they understand after that it is something wrong and you should not do it. But I don't think my character is well suited to them and I wanted to play it in a different way and not a really smart way. I played my character as someone who was hardworking who really wanted to impress their mum and dad but most of all wanted to see their dad more because he really loved him and we understand that within the play but I also wanted my character to be a funny like when I bump into Kat I want to make it a bit silly like I am having a fun time while I am playing my important role as the Narrator.
The Flint Street Nativity Play 02/10/15
Todays lesson we went though the first scene reading it out and then blocking it to see how we felt about it and to see what are characters where like in the play. I think for the first time getting up and giving it a go it went well now the only thing I need to do is learn my lines.

The Flint Street Nativity Play 01/10/15
In todays lesson we finished watching the rest of the film we got to see the parent parts to see how those characters are played but I don't think I have a parent part. For the rest of the lesson we went though the script again to make sure we knew what we where doing and to make sure that we got it right by practising again. I think this went well we just need to make sure we keep going over it so we know it without the script.
